Premiership 2011/12 is kicking off at 3pm, Saturday, 13th of August, yes, I know, no early game and what a way to kick it off, the first game being televised on Setanta 1 is Liverpool v Sunderland in Anfield.
Kenny has made some sweet signings since taking charge of the Kop and encouraged an impressive change in form for the latter half of last season, Liverpool supporters seem very optimistic about contesting this year. But Sunderland are no walk overs, Steve Bruce has made some amount of changes to his squad this transfer window, up there with the biggest spenders and he will want to get something.
The later game showing on ESPN at 5.30 is Newcastle v Arsenal from St. James Park. Both teams have had unrest amongst their supporters, Newcastle supporters are not happy for the simple reason that since Alan Pardew’s began reign, they have done nothing but show their best players the door – Carroll, Nolan, Barton and now it looks as though they might loose Jose Enrique. Then there is the worrying state of affairs at Arsenal, I don’t think I have met a happy Arsenal supporter in recent times. No trophies, no signings and there is a high chance of no Fabregas or Nasri. This should be whopper.
And let us not forget, Sunday afternoon on Sky, at 13.30 we have Villas-Boas debut with Chelsea v Stoke at the Britannia. Then, at 4pm, we have the champions, Manchester United travelling to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom.
There is a serious amount of entertainment on show and I am creaming myself just thinking about it.
